About Me

Managing Associate within Lewis Silkin's Employment Reward Immigration team. 

I advise on all areas of employment law and have a particular expertise in defending employment tribunal claims, working with clients in many sectors including retail and hospitality (pubs, hotels, casinos), car manufacturing, communications/technology and publishing. 

For many years I have been principal employment law adviser to a company which operates chains of restaurants across the UK. My work with them includes: defending employment tribunal claims; developing policies and procedures; drafting contractual documentation; advising on senior employee terminations; and advising on TUPE transfers when taking on or closing restaurants or concession units.

I have recently done two in house secondments for a global car manufacturer. As well as managing their tribunal caseload, this involved advice on TUPE and trade union issues as well as everyday employment law queries from the HR team.

Other recent work includes: defending multiple tribunal claims arising from a large scale redundancy exercise (including unfair dismissal, trade union detriment and disability discrimination claims); advising on the TUPE implications (including contractual documentation) of outsourcing an IT function; defending and winning a complex race discrimination case; advising a client regarding the investigation of a senior employee’s breach of his obligations of confidentiality and good faith and assisting with the related dismissal procedure; advising on the termination of a senior executive; advising regarding obligations to disabled employees; advice regarding diversity training and using the statutory defence to harassment claims.

Before I qualified as a solicitor I worked for a number of years doing information and advice work in the voluntary and public sectors.
